Directions to the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office at the Virginia Institute of Marine
Science at Gloucester Point
The NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office established an office in Gloucester Point,
Virginia, at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), School of
Marine Science, College of William and Mary, in 2004. This location enables
the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office to interact with local and state science and
management agencies, as well as nonprofits and local communities, on lower
Chesapeake Bay issues including fisheries management and habitat.
From the Richmond area:
- Take I-64 east to exit 250B (Ft. Eustis Blvd. East – VA 105 east). Make a left onto VA 17 North at the McDonalds.
- Drive over the Coleman Bridge ($2.00 toll) and at the first stop light, make a right onto Lafayette Heights Road.
- At the end of Lafayette Heights Road, make a right onto Greate Road. Turn left onto Spencer Road. NCBO’s office is on the left in a brick house.
From the North:
- Take Route 301 south to Port Royal, Virginia, and turn onto Route 17 south
- Take Route 17 South to Gloucester Point, Virginia
- Make a left onto Lafayette Heights Road (the stoplight just before the Coleman Bridge)
- At the end of Lafayette Heights Road, turn right onto Greate Road
- Turn left onto Spencer Road
- NCBO's Office is on the left in a red brick house.
From the South:
- Take Route 64 East toward Newport News/Yorktown
- Take Route 17 South to Gloucester Point, Virginia
- Make a left onto Lafayette Heights Road (the stoplight just over the Coleman Bridge)
- At the end of Lafayette Heights Road, turn right onto Greate Road
- Turn left onto Spencer Road
- NCBO's Office is on the left in a red brick house.
