Coastal Prediction

Random Image

Integrated coastal observations make the connections between air, land, and water to help us understand, protect, and restore the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem, as well as enable us to plan for commercial, recreational, and social activities.

NCBO’s Chesapeake Bay Coastal Prediction Center gathers and integrates information from CBOS and other sources to provide data and predictions to the public, researchers, and decisionmakers.

NOAA’s Chesapeake Bay Office is actively involved in the development of the Chesapeake Bay Observing System (CBOS) as part of the National Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS). CBOS, an array of instruments that sense conditions on, in, and above the Bay, its watershed, and the adjacent continental shelf, is accomplished by a partnership of universities, states, federal agencies, and industry.
