2007 CBPO Report CardAnnual Bay Reports Released
Two reports that evaluate and examine the status of the Bay were recently released. EcoCheck, a NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office-University of Maryland Center for Environmental Studies partnership, developed the 2007 Chesapeake Bay Report Card. The Chesapeake Bay Program, in which the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office is a partner, released its 2007 Chesapeake Bay Health and Restoration Report.

NOAA RECOGNIZES ENVIRONMENTAL HEROES FOR EARTH DAY - One of the many ways NOAA celebrates Earth Day is to recognize private individuals and organizations that volunteer their time to help NOAA carry out its mission.
 
U.S. TEMPS NEAR AVERAGE IN MARCH; GLOBAL LAND TEMPS SET RECORD - An analysis by NOAA's National Climatic Data Center shows that the average temperature for March 2008 in the contiguous U.S. was near average for the past 113 years. Global land temperative was the warmest on record; ocean surface temperatures were the 13th warmest.
 
NOAA SATELLITES HELP SAVE 23 PEOPLE IN N. ATLANTIC - NOAA satellites helped the U.S. Coast Guard respond to a major engine room fire aboard the merchant vessel Sea Venus 1,200 miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in early April.
